  • ROBIN HOBB DEBUTS ON BESTSELLER LISTS IN THE U.S. AND U.K. (2015.12.19)

  • “As the best writers do, Hobb shows us ourselves in her characters. Their longings and failings are our own, and we find our view of the world indelibly changed by their experiences. The novelists in any genre are rare who achieve it with Hobb’s combination of accessibility and moral authority.”

    Dear Friends:

We are extremely pleased to let you know Robin Hobb’s latest novel, FOOL’S ASSASSIN, the first title in her ‘Fitz and Fool’ trilogy, debuts on both the New York Times and Sunday Times (UK) hardcover bestseller lists as of Sunday, August 30.  The book debuts at #4 on the Sunday Times (UK) list, and at #13 on the New York Times.

The joyful news was announced at a recent event held in London, which featured Robin Hobb and George R.R. Martin speaking to a sold-out crowd at the historic Freemasons Hall.  The event was livestreamed by Blinkbox, and can be seen here:

The event was a lively celebration of the two authors’ work, as well as an insightful discussion back-and-forth about the process of writing, and writing fantasy in particular.   The audience—including a number of cosplayers—were both enthusiastic and rapt.

Buzzfeed published some highlights from the evening, along with some choice photos (see below).  Coverage for the event was extensive, with press from around the globe taking part.

Contributing to the wonderful success of FOOL’S ASSASSIN has been the astounding rave reviews accompanying its publication.   Clearly there is a groundswell among reviewers that Hobb is something really special.

Thus far, FOOL’S ASSASSIN has been sold to Harper UK, Luitingh in the Netherlands, Pygmalion/J’ai Lu in France, and Opus in Israel.  Hobb’s entire Realm of the Elderlings series—of which the new trilogy is the latest installment—is currently being relaunched in Spain (Penguin Random House), Latin America (Penguin Random House), Brazil (Leya), Poland (Mag) and China (Shanghai Widea Culture).
